Martha Jane (Homan) Anderson was born on September 6, 1944 to Glenn and Lorraine (Ewing) Homan in Creston, Iowa. Martha graduated from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School in 1962 and then attended Wartburg College. She worked as a daycare provider for 15 years and then as a lunch ticket puncher, secretary, and janitor at Ballard High School for 31 years. She loved her job as a janitor, and all the people she worked with. She retired in 2013.
Martha's greatest love was her family and friends, and all her pet dogs she had over the years. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, TV, dancing (done in secret at home), playing piano, cooking (especially chili at Christmas), music, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Martha passed away unexpectedly at her home in Huxley on April 18, 2017 at 72 years of age.
Martha is survived by her children, Jane (Jason) Paul of Ames, Jim (Barb) Burrack of Polk City and Wade (Terri) Anderson of Huxley; her grandchildren, Colin, Grant and Garrison Anderson of Huxley, Mindi Skjordal of San Diego, Calif., Amy Skjordal of Kansas City, Kan., Zach (Brianna) Paul, active duty U.S. Army and Ty Paul of Ames; three brothers; and two sisters.
