Obituary for Dorothy Hinders

Dorothy Hinders was born January 18, 1923, to Michael and Gertrude (Russell) Arnold. Dorothy grew up in Lamberton, Minnesota and graduated from Lamberton High School in 1941. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1945, earning a degree in Home Economics. She taught school in Freeman, Minn. and later worked as an Extension Agent in Albert Lea. Dorothy was a member of Eastern Star and Order of the Amaranth. She volunteered at the voting polls and raised money selling daffodils for the American Cancer Society. She is known by many in Ames as the “Daffodil Lady”. She enjoyed going out for coffee with her friends and family, collecting recipes, and master gardening.

She will always be remembered for her courageous determination, indomitable spirit and tenacious battle with several illnesses.
