Obituary for Elizabeth Hiserote

Elizabeth "Liz" Hiserote, 100, of Ames passed away at her home September 27, 2018. A private family service will take place at a later date.
Elizabeth Margaret Hiserote was born April 13, 1918 in Ames, to James and Carrie (Springer) Lange. Liz attended Clearview School and graduated from North Grant School, both located in Story County. On January 7, 1938 she married Darrell "Deek" Hiserote. Liz was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames, a past member of Ames Golf and Country, and played on several golf leagues. Liz was a former co-owner of the Sheldon Munn Hotel, Sheldon Munn barber shop, and Lange's Lunchbox. Liz enjoyed playing bridge, baking, and working in her yard, which resulted in winning the Ames Pride in Property Award several times. Liz was a fabulous cook and loved hosting holiday gatherings with her family.
Liz is survived by five grandchildren, J.D. (Amy) Fellows of West Des Moines, Trace (Chris) Houge Brakke of Ames, Chris (Martha) Fellows of San Diego CA, Lisa (Eric) Fellows Bartlett of Clive, Angela (Tim) Houge Moore of Roland and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Nancie Jo Fellows, Bette Ann Houge; one granddaughter, Jill Houge; one infant great granddaughter, Meredith Jo Fellows; two sisters, Katherine Kelley and Esther Kingsbury; three brothers, Howard "Sam" Lange, Kenneth "Bud" Lange and infant brother, Everett Lange.
