Obituary for Peggy Hanson

Alice Louise “Peggy” Rex was born on November 13, 1923 in Webster City, Iowa to Clyde and Alice (Wilson) Rex. She attended country schools and Webster City High School and graduated from Ellsworth High School. Peggy then attended AIB in Des Moines and worked at Farmers State Bank in Jewell for 26 years.
She married Roger Hanson December 12, 1943 and they farmed southwest of Jewell. Peggy was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and belonged to Ladies Aid. She also belonged to W D K club for 75 years. Peggy enjoyed bowling, golfing and writing poetry. Peggy and Roger enjoyed traveling and spending many winters in Texas.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Lisbeth) Hanson; three daughters, Pamela Duncan, Betty Jo (Daryl) Lamfers and Jane (Neil) Whetstone; eight grandchildren, Mia Hanson, Bobbi Hanson, Michelle Caison, Lee Duncan, Kema Davis, Dirk Lamfers, Sara Franz, and Dawna Davis and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roger on August 4, 2008; two infant brothers, a brother, Clyde; and two sisters, Mary E. and Dorothy Appelgate.
