Obituary for Suzanne J Sederburg

Suzanne Jane Sederburg, age 81, of Ames, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Mary Greeley Medical Center after a short illness.
Born on December 22, 1937 in Ottumwa, she was the daughter of Louis and Nettie (Hicks) Sloan. Suzanne graduated from Red Oak High School in 1956. She attended nursing school at Iowa Methodist Hospital. She was united in marriage to Curtis Sederburg on September 15, 1957 at the Baptist Church in Red Oak. Suzanne was a devoted homemaker, a job in which she excelled. She was a very optimistic person and refused to argue, learning from her mother that nothing is worth fighting over. Suzanne was very active and adventurous. She enjoyed tent camping, backpacking, and while learning to ski, she drove 70 miles to a ski resort by herself while Curt was at a business conference. For many years, Curt and Suzanne spent several months volunteering for the Forest Service in Wyoming. Suzanne enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially when the sun was shining. She continued swimming and biking and gave up running only on doctor’s orders. Sue loved to cook and would always spring amazing desserts on her family. She also enjoyed meeting with friends, writing, sewing, quilting, and painting. Her love of family was always obvious and heart-felt. Sue was a devout Christian and long-standing member of Christ Community Church.
Suzanne is survived by her husband, Curt of Ames; her children: Julie (Kenneth) Clark of Waukee, Rebecca (Andrew) Beaver of Wapello, and Steven Sederburg of Redfield; a son-in law, Curtis Griffin of Rogersville, TN; grandchildren: Aleah (Shawn) Siefkas, David (Jessica) Clark, Anna (Casey) Frey, Alexander Beaver, Colin Beaver, Bryan (Cris) Griffin, Kelsey Griffin, and Benjamin Griffin; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Nancy Griffin; an infant son, David; and a brother, Richard (Janice) Sloan.
Friends may call from 3-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Adams Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Christ Community Church, 5501 George Washington Carver Ave., Ames, Iowa. A luncheon will follow the service at the Church for fellowship and memories. Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Adams Funeral Home and online condolences may be left for the family at In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sue’s name may be directed to Christ Community Church.
